About the book
A critical analysis of leadership succession and renewal in the African National Congress after Cyril Ramaphosa.
In May 2024 the ANC lost its outright majority for the first time since 1994, falling to 40.18 per cent of the national vote. The author argues that what follows is not a simple change of leadership but a molt: a slow and painful renewal.
Drawing on the Zondo and Madlanga commissions, the rise of the MK Party and the strain on the Tripartite Alliance, the book asks the question the party has most carefully avoided: who comes after Ramaphosa, and what will be left to lead?
It is not a demolition. It is a diagnosis, and a case for renewal written by someone who still believes renewal is possible.
